Trees South Africa: Nurseries of Note
Trees South Africa specialize in the production of large and mature trees with our smallest trees for sale being a 250-liter bag sizes and ± 3m tall, and our largest 3 000-liter and up to 15m tall.
Only top quality trees are produced and presented for sale. To achieve these high standards all our trees are hand-selected for good vigour, structure and form, typical to the species.
The spacing in our nurseries is sufficient to allow a tree crown to develop, and stem diameter growth is kept in proportion to tree height, resulting in trees with sturdy stems that can stand without the need for support-staking.
Every tree is a project, starting with experienced and qualified personnel assisting our clients in selecting the correct species to suit their specific requirements, climatic conditions and soil type, followed by the careful planning and coordination of the installation process. Due to the size of our trees, the delivery and planting is mostly handled by us.
WHY PLANT A LARGE TREE YOU MAY ASK?
Well, in this fast paced society where we have become so used to everything being instant, why not an instant tree. The visual impact a large tree has on a property is immense.
Just imagine being able to sit in the shade of a newly acquired tree the day after it is delivered and planted (complete with the kids climbing in the branches overhead!).
Planting large trees not only provides an immediate significant tree presence and aesthetically pleasing effect, but large trees are also more resistant to damage in public areas. And an added bonus is that the keen (though sometimes inexperienced) gardener need not worry about pampering a fragile sapling, or scratch his head about corrective pruning. The professionals took care of all of that, giving you a happy, healthy well balanced specimen.
Furthermore, as society becomes more and more aware and concerned about aspects such as global warming, carbon foot print, green building and recycling, what could be more rewarding that knowing you can contribute to the global fight by planting a tree – still the most effective means for absorbing and storing the carbon you emit?
RELOCATION OF TREES
Secondly, we specialize in the relocation of large trees. This is a very specialized process and we are proud to say that, through continuous research and pioneering the development of unique techniques and specialized equipment, as well as our knowledge of South African species and their conditions, we have successfully executed tree relocations never before considered possible under the extreme and very variable South African climatic environments and soil types.
Today Trees South Africa is the first and leading company to elevate the discipline of relocating large and mature trees to a professional level in South Africa, maintaining a magnificent 95% success rate! Typically relocations are undertaken to rescue fine specimen trees where they are threatened by development or a favourite tree is moved to a new location in the garden when extending the home or where it has out grown its space. Valuable trees can also be stored and cared for in the nursery during construction projects and returned when the site is ready.
When it is necessary for home owners to remove a tree, instead of simply having it cut and removed, it can perhaps find a new home. Besides the satisfaction of preserving the life of a mature tree, it also saves the owner the cost of felling and removal – and preserves the carbon credits!
